Breezes is a beautiful resort on the west of Zanzibar Island. We visited Zanzibar with friends in March 2005. We were due to stay with Breezes for our whole trip but 3 days before we set off our travel agent informed us that the hotel had over booked and our travel company Thomas Cook Signatures arranged for us to stay one night in Stone Town, 3 nights in the North of the island and the remaining seven days at Breezes. At the time it was a lot of shifting around but in hindsight I think we would have got bored staying at the Breezes for 11 nights. However when we arrived at Breezes we were impressed. I had a chest infection which had come on whilst travelling and the hotel arranged for me to see the resident nurse. She saw me within an hour and gave me antibiotics and painkillers, all at a very reasonable cost (around £10 all inc). We were full board ( upgraded after the overbooking incident) and I would recommend it, as there is NOWHERE else to eat. The food at lunch was good and offered some variety. the evening meal was fantastic (as long as you are a fairly adventurous eater) it’s a la carte, with limited choice but excellent quality.
The rooms are beautiful chalets, spacious with sumptuous interiors and offer a real feeling of privacy. The pool is a good size and you can easily step between the beach and the pool from your sun bed. We took the opportunity to utilise the water sports centre, and went diving. It’s not the cheapest diving we have done, but diving with giant turtles is a must.
A beautiful location, stunning beaches and a comfortable complex with very friendly staff. Just don’t expect to be able to socialise outside of the hotel.
